MNEA standing with GM workers

Just before midnight Sun., Sept. 15, 2019, the United Auto Workers (UAW) began a nationwide strike over contract negotiations with General Motors. The strike impacts 4,300 UAW families in Missouri and over 50,000 union families nationwide.

Missouri NEA stands with our fellow union members in the UAW as they work to strike a fair bargain that recognizes their contribution to GM's record profits.  We have been in direct contact with the UAW Local 2250 president at the Wentzville assembly facility and Missouri AFL-CIO. We offered our help and agreed to notify our members of any events where they could express support for striking GM workers.

The UAW Local 2250 local president thanked us for our offer of support and let us know an event was forthcoming in the next "seven-to-ten days." As details solidify, we will make sure to keep you in the loop and ask you to stand with GM workers.

Phillip Murray
MNEA President
